The curious concept of “giving back”.

Having entered my 60’s, I frequently hear the term “I’m giving back”, which is surely a good thing.

But cynical me thinks, “Oh, then you must have been taking for a while”.

There is no need for any enterprise to just “take”, but plenty do. That is their culture and modus operandi. But that is an old-skool and unimaginative way to turn a dollar.

Delivering value that benefits not just customers, employees, and shareholders, but the community at large - these are the characteristics of a thriving contemporary enterprise.

An enterprise that considers the community as stakeholders as much as the customers, shareholders and employees will also attract the best professionals, which is a recipe for success. These people are driven by purpose, and they understand how to deliver value sustainably, creating a virtuous cycle of profitability and a business that consistently thrives.

Giving back is fine, but consistently and purposefully delivering value to ALL stakeholders is the only way to go.

Ivan

Fighting history: Can Tasmania sustain its population growth after the pandemic?

Webinar | 29 August 2023, 12:30 - 1:30PM

In recent years, Tasmania has experienced rapid population growth, putting pressure on housing and infrastructure. But the state is once again losing young people to mainland cities, while it continues to attract retirees.

So can this growth be sustained? What will be the future demand for housing, schools and infrastructure? And how does the state balance its ageing population?

We invite you to join us as we present our latest population forecasts for Tasmania. We will explore how demographics and land use policies influence when and where population growth is forecast to occur, and what that means for organisations planning infrastructure and services in the state over the next 25 years.
